National Standard for Land and Forest Fires Prevention in Indonesia
IKI funded project together with CIFOR, support BAPPENAS and Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affair to develop a National Standard for Land and Forest Fires Prevention in Indonesia
For 18 consecutive years, haze and fires was not diminished across Indonesia and it is foreseen that extent of fires and the degree of damages caused by fires is likely to continue to rise. In 2015, it is reported the largest forest and land fires occurrence where about of 2.61 million hectares of areas including forest, plantation and other lands were burned with economic loss about USD 16 million according to the World Bank. To prevent such major events happened in following years, Through IKI funded project together with CIFOR, we also support BAPPENAS and Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affair to develop a National Standard for Land and Forest Fires Prevention in Indonesia.
