Summary:

Blue carbon is the carbon stored in coastal, tidal, wetland and marine ecosystems, including carbon-rich mangroves, salt marshes and seagrass meadows. Indonesia is the world’s richest in coastal blue carbon
ecosystems - housing around 3 million hectares of mangroves and 0.3 million hectares of seagrass meadows.

Strategies and measures to conserve and restore these habitats may be supported by the blue economy and encompass wider economic sectors including fishing, tourism, off-shore mining, transportation and
shipping industries.
