TERNATE, KOMPAS — Sejumlah petani di Ternate, Provinsi Maluku Utara, mengeluh menyusul turunnya harga pala dan cengkeh. Saat ini, nilai pasar dua komoditas unggulan itu masing-masing Rp 70.000 dan Rp 95.000 per kilogram. Petani berharap pemerintah terlibat dalam proses pemasaran demi mengurangi permainan harga oleh tengkulak.

The National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) has announced that the first railway service in Papua will be the Sorong-Manokwari route in West Papua.

Bappenas transportation director Bambang Prihartono also said that other routes are soon to follow, as the Ministry of Transportation is currently doing feasibility studies to decide which areas are suitable for railroad.

A Sriwijaya Air flight from Sentani Airport in Jayapura to Mopah Airport in Merauke was canceled on Saturday afternoon due to the eruption of Papua New Guinea's Mount Manan on Friday.

According to Sriwijaya Air manager in Jayapura Renold, the decision was made by the airline's head office in Jakarta on security concerns.
