BEKERJA DAN BERBAKTI UNTUK KEMAJUAN KTI

Celebrating our Inspirasi volunteers

It's National Volunteer Week, and as our 2019 Inspirasi Group wings its way to Aotearoa, we want to say thank you. Thanks to our volunteer mentors, host families, presenters, co-mamas, co-papas and facilitators who share your time and wisdom with young community workers from East Indonesia. Thanks to our young leaders, who also do much of their mahi as volunteers. We can't wait for the touchdown of our new team tonight. That's them above at Jakarta airport. Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou!

If you'd like to come to the Inspirasi 2019 pōwhiri, it's at 9am on Thursday 27 June, at Ngā Wai o Horotiu Marae (AUT Marae), 69 Wellesley St E, Auckland - please just reply to this e-newsletter and let Laila know how many you are.

2019 Inspirasi, Serlinia Rambu Anawoli's fieldwork project is "The Power of Women's Stories". To tackle the low levels of women's representation in political structures from the village to the Province level, Serly is observing and interviewing women and their families about their daily life and building a collection of stories and insights into the strengths women already have as leaders. She believes naming and celebrating these strengths will provide material for movements towards women's political equality with men. Here, Serly watches one of her storytellers, Mama Martha Sesfao, "an amazing weaver and hardworker woman".

Rezky Pratiwi (far right) wants to build a "Sustainable Youth Collaboration on Promoting Access to Justice for Women in The Criminal Justice System". The first step has been to bring a group of young activists and legal actors together to co-design the campaign. 12 participants from the legal aid organisation LBH-Makassar worked together for two days recently, first learning about co-design, and then on the tools they will need to develop and progress a campaign plan. At the end of this meeting, a Core Project Team was established.
