The goal of the Stakeholder Coordination, Advocacy, Linkages and Engagement for Resilience (SCALE) Project is to improve the resiliency of populations vulnerable to natural hazards and impacts of climate change through strengthening the capacity of government, civil society, and the private sector to reduce risks and adapt to climate change. The approach will improve linkages among stakeholders for more coordinated and inclusive planning; increase awareness of the risks associated with disasters and climate change; and reduce vulnerabilities in select areas through pilot projects.
This project is expected to result in the following:
Four provincial advisory committees and eight sub-district working groups incorporate disaster and climate change preparedness into provincial district and sub-district plans;
Government and vulnerable communities demonstrate improved awareness of specific risks from hazards and climate change; and
Select communities reduce their vulnerability to hazards and climate change impact
Activities:
Mobilize provincial advisory committees and sub-district working groups by promoting coordinated and inclusive planning for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation;
Enhance the National Disaster Management Agency training package; and
Conduct vulnerability and capacity assessments and sub-sector analysis and disseminate results; implement pilot projects in each location based on the assessment results.
