USAID provides support to expand UNICEF’s Green and Clean Slums concept to three cities in Eastern Indonesia and Jakarta. USAID support focuses on improving water and sanitation in urban communities by building the capacity of water utilities and city water and sanitation working groups, providing community and school facilities, and improving solid waste management. Public-private partnerships will figure prominently in UNICEF’s Jakarta activities.
The expected results include:
70,000 people gain access to improved water supply and sanitation services; and
Selected cities increase budget allocations for water supply, sanitation and hygiene in slum areas by 25%.
To achieve these results, activities under the following components will be implemented: Institutional strengthening, Community empowerment and Infrastructure construction
