Save the Children in Indonesia is changing for the better. We've begun to build a national organization that aims to be a strong, local, and self-sustaining voice for children in Indonesia. To this end, SC Indonesia has been designated as a “Prospect Member”. As ‘Prospect Member’ Indonesia has been identified as part of the next way of new member development, which focuses on strengthening and localizing our voice for children in strategic middle income countries. Indonesia has been authorized by member ballot to start fundraising locally as a first step towards building a financially sustainable local organization. Future work will also involve developing a strong local governance structure and building key partnerships with local government, the private sector, local civil society among others. Success of the pilot phase will set the Indonesia on a pathway to full membership. We are currently seeking to fill the following position:

Child Poverty Officer BRIGHT

1 position, based in Makassar

ROLE PURPOSE:

Yayasan Tunas Cilik- Partner of Save the Children will implement BRIGHT ((BRIng and Give Hope outside of Trash) to address the well-being and resiliency of children and households engaged in the informal waste management sector through a Child Sensitive Livelihood, Social Protection, Adolescent Skills for Successful Transition (ASST) and Child Protection Intervention. The Project location is in Location is Manggala Sub District, Makassar, South Sulawesi (TPA Tamangapa community).

Through Cooperation with all stakeholders we will ensure basic rights of children and the quality of life of the poor can be improved by implementing program activities including:

  • Strengthening child protection systems and referral mechanisms
  • Strengthening household financial management and saving
  • Improve employability skills of young people (15 – 18 years old) to access job opportunities outside the informal waste management sector.
  • Improve capacity of Household to initiate alternative livelihoods
  • Building Partnership with local government, CSOs and private sectors
  • Ensuring Indonesia laws and regulations on children and harmful work are understood by local authorities, communities & other key stakeholder are effectively implemented and advocate social
  • protection scheme targeting to include the most marginalized and deprived communities, including informal waste management workers who may lack adequate documentation
     

This post will support the Project Manager and other project team to ensure the high quality of program delivery.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
