Project Summary:

UNDP ART GOLD Indonesia (AGI) is a framework programme that aims at contributing to the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Indonesia by supporting those national policies that promote provincial development and decentralization. In line with the ART approach, AGI follows a multi-sectoral and territorial approach to development working simultaneously at local, national and international levels. AGI programme is currently operational in two provinces: Gorontalo (Sulawesi) and Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), under the coordination of a central office based in UNDP Jakarta.

The ART GOLD Indonesia (AGI) program works under MDG number eight which advocates for the creation of international networks for development. AGI works at the international, national, and provincial level.
In Gorontalo, the program tries to match up international actors with local institutions to enact development cooperation activities, as well as providing a framework for the creation of locally produced development plans. Further, In Gorontalo AGI has facilitated a South-South Cooperation Initiative with Southern province, Sri Lanka (another ART GOLD country). This has led to political agreements and to an exchange of knowledge, experiences and techniques in the Agricultural sector.
