NEW ZEALAND - HEAD OF EMBASSY FUND: CALLING FOR PROPOSALS for OPENING ROUND 2024/2025 (CLOSING DATE 14 FEBRUARY 2025)

The New Zealand Embassy in Jakarta is calling for proposals for the opening of round 1 of the Head of Embassy Fund (HEF) 2024/25. The HEF supports small-scale, short-term community projects that contribute to wider community well-being. The maximum funding available for this round is up to NZ$50,000 for individual projects. A higher funding per project might be considered if relevant with the local context and the needs to be addressed. The maximum duration of projects is 24 months. The deadline for proposals is 4.00 pm on Friday 14 February 2025.

Proposed projects should meet HEF criteria (see attached document). Preferred themes to be considered are:

  • Food security.
  • Community well-being, including potable water, sanitation, healthcare, and nutrition.
  • Access to basic literacy education services.
  • Women’s empowerment.
  • Climate change resilience and adaptation.
  • Good Governance/Participatory and Sustainable Development
     

All proposals should use the attached application form. Proposals should provide the following details, proportionate to the size and complexity of the project:

  • key stakeholders of the project (including the target groups)
  • the consultative process undertaken to develop the activity plan
  • clear description of the needs to be addressed and specific location where the project will be implemented
  • clear information about project’s objectives, expected results, alignment with the HEF’s purpose and preferred themes, target groups, sustainability and, proposed activities and implementation plan
  • possible risks to the project and how they will be managed
  • a detailed budget (preferably in a separate Excel sheet). Please note that honorarium should not exceed 20% of total HEF contribution
  • details of financial/labour/in-kind contributions from the applicants
  • co-funding to the proposed project by other development organisations is also possible, however, a clear distinction should be made between what is requested to other funding sources and what is requested to HEF fund.  

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Applications for the round 1 of FY 2024/2025 close at 4.00 pm on 14 February 2025.
  • Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
  • Applications are only accepted in word or pdf files. The budget can be in a separate Excel file.  
  • Please ensure you have read our criteria thoroughly before submitting an application. As resources are limited, we will prioritise those projects that best meet the HEF criteria.
  • If the application is incomplete your application may not be considered. If further information is required, it will delay the decision-making process.
  • We may need to contact you about your application, usually by email. 
  • Once decisions have been made, all applicants will be notified by email. Please allow up to 2 months from the application closing date to receive a notification regarding the final decision.
