PAIR Talent Accelerator Program: Next Generation Research Leaders

The Australia-Indonesia Centre is launching its online Talent Accelerator Program (TAP), aimed at increasing the impact and leadership of early career researchers across Indonesia and Australia.

TAP focuses on skills that are not traditionally part of postgraduate programs, such as working across cultures, multidisciplinary teamwork and social inclusion in research.

The program aims to establish a learning community of next generation research leaders.

Our unique offering
RELEVANT, PRACTICAL, AND VALUABLE OUTPUTS
Directly apply what you learn to your research and produce outputs that directly add value to you and your research, such as a Research Impact Canvas or Team Collaboration Plan.

ONLINE AND HIGHLY EXPERIENTIAL
We’ve partnered with Open Learning for their highly social and interactive learning platform. Learn at your own pace and at a time when it suits you while interacting with others.

INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH NETWORK
The Australia-Indonesia Centre exists to stimulate people-to-people links. Through the TAP Connect with others from different universities and disciplines across Australia and Indonesia

ENGAGE WITH STAKEHOLDERS
Such as governments, university partners, funding agencies, international experts, community groups, and NGOs.

EDUCATIONAL PLAYGROUND
The TAP is a place where you can experiment and play without consequences. Learn with and from others. There is no formal assessment, which gives you space to create value for you.

Units in the Talent Accelerator Program
TAP units consists of short but substantial blocks of learning. 12h per unit across 4 weeks. Take one, or take them all.

To learn from a diverse range of perspectives, we aim to have a mix of nationalities, gender balance and different disciplines represented in each unit.

Currently, the program consists of four units, the first of which commences in October 2022, with others following late 2022 and early 2023.

RESEARCHERS WORKING ACROSS CULTURES
Australia and Indonesia are strengthening their bonds in trade, politics, and academia. As a result, research projects that include researchers from both nations are becoming more prominent. This unit will help researchers interested in undertaking international research partnerships to develop their intercultural competence and much more.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

Evaluate your personal intercultural competencies and values
Review key cultural differences between Australia and Indonesia as they pertain to research collaboration
Plan strategies to develop your “cultural intelligence” in intercultural research teams
Create a basic intercultural development plan
This course will first be offered in October 2022. Learn more about this unit here.

RESEARCHERS WORKING TOWARDS IMPACT
In this unit, we will approach impact from a variety of different angles, identify stakeholders, and potential knowledge and policy partnerships. We will further explore your impact narrative and ultimately work towards an impact plan that can guide your efforts and support the impact of your research. Learn more.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

Identify the shifting notion of academic impact and various areas where researchers can make an impact
Identify key partners for impact
Identify the leadership skills related to research impact
Create a basic research impact plan
This course will first be offered in December 2022. Learn more about this unit here.

RESEARCHERS WORKING TOWARDS SOCIAL INCLUSION
An important aspect of successful research is the effective incorporation of gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) considerations. This unit comprises three stages: an introduction to inclusive practice in research, learning from experts in GEDSI research, and setting sensitive monitoring targets and indicators.

This course will first be offered in January or February 2023. Learn more about this unit here.

RESEARCHERS WORKING IN MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAMS
Large, complex, global projects require researchers to collaborate across countries, institutions, stakeholders, and time zones; transforming how we do research. In this unit you will explore the foundations of teamwork and explore how you can set your research team up for success. Learn more.

This course will first be offered in January or February 2023. Learn more about this unit here.
