Student learning assessment (SLA) differs from other learning assessment tools in that it measures primary grade 1 through 6 reading and mathematics competencies contextualized to remote areas of Indonesia and yet still adhere to Indonesia’s 2006 national curriculum standards. Both content and cognitive domains measured by SLA reading and math tests were adapted from national and international frameworks. These include a wide range of reading and math topics assessed in problem sets that measure student’s knowledge of the reading or math concept being asked, student’s ability to apply this knowledge to a certain context, or student’s reasoning to critically consider solutions to a novel problem.
