Alexandra Ryan
Alex Ryan is a bilingual strategic planning consultant and facilitator specialising in environmental campaigns and advocacy organisations in Indonesia and the Asia Pacific region. Alex has worked in NGOs in Southeast Asia and Australia for over 15 years. Her primary field of focus has been forest conservation and sustainable utilisation of non-timber forest resources. However, she also has experience in campaigns and programs on mining, overseas development assistance, disaster recovery and waste reduction and prevention. This has ranged from working on international forest campaigns, to developing alteratives to deforestation in a community setting, to managing Aceh recovery programs in the post-tsunami period. More recently Alex has been working as a freelance consultant to NGOs and small business. In this role she has led training and capacity building programs for local staff. She is the owner and manager of Kalimantan Recycled Timber, a recycled lumber company based in Bali, as well as the Steering Committee Chair of Say No To Plastic!, a campaign to reduce single-use plastic bags in Indonesia.
