West Timor continues to face a combination of acute and chronic food-security crises that leads to deteriorating nutritional and health status of its population, particularly underfive children and women. In order to assess the magnitude of nutrition, health and food security problems, CWS, CARE, and HKI initiated a nutrition and health survey in West Timor (districts of Kupang, Timur Tengah Selatan, Timur Tengah Utara, and Belu), East Nusa Tenggara province in November-December 2007.
