BEKERJA DAN BERBAKTI UNTUK KEMAJUAN KTI

Call for paper The Indonesia Development Forum (IDF)

Topic: Look to The East: The Future of Indonesia
.
The deadline for papers submission is extended to July 5, 2017!
.
The gap between regions in Indonesia remains as a significant challenge to the national development. Development benefits are still concentrated in some parts of the country, namely the Western Region of Indonesia (KBI) especially Java, and scarce in others. In the period of 1978-2015, the Eastern Region of Indonesia (KTI) contributes only 20 percent to the national economy. KTI has been posting higher growth than the national growth in the last several years, but inequality in KTI is among the highest in Indonesia, as accelerated growth is not met with poverty reduction.
.
KTI has abundant natural resources that provide the region with enormous potential for development and as the capital to improve the welfare of the communities. The central and local governments as well as non government organizations have devised breakthroughs to accelerate growth in KTI. Some of the initiatives are proven to be smart practices that can be the reference for scale-up and replication efforts, taking into account the diverse characteristics of areas in KTI. The discussion on development in KTI also needs to focus on innovations, models, and effective approaches to answer developemnt challenges in KTI, especially in driving growth and reducing inequality.
