The call for papers for the 2019 Australasian Aid Conference (AAC)

The call for papers for the 2019 Australasian Aid Conference (AAC) is now open. The conference is multidisciplinary in nature, and examines topics related to aid and international development. We welcome abstracts from academics and practitioners on the following topics related to aid and international development:

• Aid effectiveness, at both the micro and macro level
• The political economy and politics of aid
• Aid and security
• Aid from non-traditional donors
• Aid and gender
• Aid and the private sector
• Humanitarian aid
• Aid evaluation
• International public goods (climate change, global health, etc.)
• Migration and international trade policy, from a development perspective
• The international aid and development architecture, including the G20, World Bank, and other international agencies
• International development themes and trends

Submissions are welcome from academics, practitioners and students. The AAC is a research conference. Papers arguing for particular policy positions are welcome, but must be based on solid research. Papers outlining proposed research will not be accepted.

Abstracts should be no more than 300 words in length and should be unstructured. Please submit your abstract and author details through this online form.

In addition to individual abstracts, organised panels of up to 4 presenters are also invited. Panel organisers have considerable flexibility, and can present a roundtable discussion rather than a series of papers if that is desired. If you wish to propose a panel, please do not use the above form. Instead, panel organisers should submit a Word document providing the panel title, a short summary of the panel theme, and the names, position titles, and institutions of your proposed presenters/panellists, along with their abstracts (if relevant). Please email the Word document directly to devpolicy@anu.edu.au with “2019 Australasian Aid Conference – panel proposal” in the subject line.

The deadline for all submissions is 5pm AEST on 5 October 2018.

All authors will be advised whether their abstract or panel has been accepted no later than 30 November 2018.

Please be advised that if your abstract is accepted, you will then be required to register for the conference. Registration is now open here.
